The exhilarating story of a big mountain skiing told by those who lived it.
"Steep" is a feature documentary about bold adventure, exquisite athleticism and the pursuit of a perfect moment on skis. It is the story of big mountain skiing, a sport that barely existed 35 years ago.
It started in the 1970s in the mountains above Chamonix, France, where skiers began to attempt ski descents so extreme that they appeared almost suicidal. Men like Anselme Baud and Patrick Vallencant were inspired by the challenge of skiing where no one thought to ski before. Now, two generations later, some of the world's greatest skiers pursue a sport where the prize is not winning, but simply experiencing the exhilaration of skiing and exploring big, wild, remote mountains.

FAT GIRLS is a crowd-pleasing comedy centering on gay teenager Rodney Miller trying to survive his last days of high school in a small, not exactly tolerant, Texas town. Aided by his 300-pound best friend, Sabrina, and her Cuban refugee boyfriend, Rudy, Rodney just might find that inner fat girl he knew was a part of him all along.
The film opens with Rodney lying in bed staring upwards. He's not alone, but his bedmate is covered and we can't quite see who it is. In voice-over he tells us that he is a FAT GIRL and always has been. It is a hard concept to explain, he says. Being a FAT GIRL is more a state of mind, he tells us, an unspoken club. You don't even have to be fat to be one or even a girl for that matter. Rodney then invites us on his journey to discover his own inner FAT GIRL.
The journey begins, in flashback, some time earlier, backstage during the intermission of his high school's production of "The Odd Couple," where Rodney and his co-star in the production, Ted, the quarterback of the football team, are masturbating each other in the wardrobe room, because (as Rodney tells it) the "straight" Ted isn't getting enough sex from his girlfriend. However, Rodney's best friend, Sabrina, who also happens to be the stage manager, quickly breaks this up. Rodney divides the world up between those who are FAT GIRLS and those who are not. Sabrina, he tells us, is a true FAT GIRL -- inside and out, while hunky Ted isn't one at all and never will be.
After they take their bows at the end of the performance, Rodney begins a slow awkward roll home on his roller blades. He's accosted by a group of good old boys who call him over and offer him a beer - which he definitely should have refused. After Rodney figures out what is in the beer, he proceeds to throw up all over one of the villain's cowboy boots. It seems like things can only get worse, but then Bobby appears. In voice-over Rodney explains that the handsome Bobby is his cousin, and in protecting him, he's really only protecting the family name. Also, he says, Bobby is definitely not a FAT GIRL.
Bobby drops Rodney off at home. Inside, we meet Rodney's mother, a receptionist at the church and the kind of Christian lady who serves food with religious themes, like Angel Hair pasta and Jesus Jambalaya. His father, who runs the family plumbing business, is a silent, gaseous presence, stretched out on the couch in front of the television. Rodney explains (with the help of an old home movie) that his Dad always wanted a football-playing son, but got a kid who liked to dress up and put on make-up instead.
Rodney goes to his room and puts in a porn tape.
The next day at MartinLutherKing Jr.High School, Rodney and Sabrina make their way to the cafeteria. They bring their lunch to an empty table and are soon joined by Rudy Jackson, a bespectacled Cuban refugee, who seems to take a shine to Sabrina. The trio is interrupted by Katie Chin, the school's peppy cheerleader type (and Ted's girlfriend) who announces the upcoming graduation dance. Sabrina asks Rodney who he plans to go with, thinking that they'll probably go together, but Rodney has other plans, namely, the blonde and super cool Joey, a new arrival from England. Meanwhile, realizing that Sabrina is without a date, Rudy watches her leeringly.
Now, Mr. Cox, Rodney's favorite teacher, a nice guy and "total FAT GIRL" arrives at their table to enlist the three to volunteer at the Senior Citizen center. The friends reluctantly comply. Mr. Cox exits and then Rodney sees his chance with Joey as the new student crosses to the food line. After introductions, Rodney works up the nerve to ask Joey to the dance, telling him that he figures they might have something in common. Joey likes the idea of freaking out the school and agrees. Rodney, of course, is thrilled.
But soon it's back to humiliation when Rodney's classroom speech about anti-gay discrimination is interrupted when he is summoned to the guidance office. The counselor asks Rodney what he plans to do after graduation. Rodney shares his dream of Broadway stardom, but the counselor thinks Rodney should be more practical and think about how to support a family. When Rodney explains he doesn't want a family, only a boyfriend, the counselor sends him on his way with a Christian pamphlet for alternative lifestyles and a fistful of condoms.
Rodney and Sabrina buy tickets for the graduation dance. Afterwards, they run into Tina, Bobby's slutty girlfriend. Tina asks Rodney if she can take one of the condoms, and then she and Rodney get into a disagreement about the size of Bobby's endowment.
Later, Rodney, Sabrina and Rudy walk along the railroad tracks on their way to meet Mr. Cox at the SeniorCenter. Mr. Cox tells Rodney he wants to introduce him to a woman named Mildred, one of the residents. Mildred turns out to be a spunky old girl with a Broadway past. Rodney is impressed by this and Mr. Cox encourages Rodney to sing his self-styled "number" for the ex-performer.
During the ride home, Rodney comes to find out that Mr. Cox has returned to their small Texas town to take care of an ailing mother. Rodney makes no secret of his disdain for the town and his longing to escape to New York. Mr. Cox, a former resident of NYC, encourages Rodney and tells him how much he'll love it there.
Rodney comes home to the news that his father has died during a sexual encounter with a "midget woman." Rodney seems less disturbed by his father's passing than the group of church folks gathered in his living room.
Later, when his mother comes to his room to comfort him, he can't quite convince her that he's not that upset, given the obvious issues with his father. The more she tries to comfort him, the more he's amused. He tries, somewhat unsuccessfully, to stifle his giggles.
Later still, Joey calls to invite Rodney to BJ's, a gay club. Rodney is excited by the invitation. To the tune of 'I'm so sexy' he gets ready for the big night. Joey honks from the street and Rodney crawls out his bedroom window to meet him.
Meanwhile, Sabrina and Rudy are hooking up in the front seat of a Volkswagen.
At the gay bar, Rodney and Joey have barely settled themselves on their stools when Joey is propositioned by a hot guy. Joey and the guy retire to the bathroom and Rodney sits rejected and alone. But then the show starts and a drag performer is introduced - Miss Autumn Leaves. In Judy/Liza fashion she performs a stirring rendition of "Give My Regards to Broadway." Rodney is awestruck, but not so much by the performance. It's that he recognizes the performer as none other than Mr. Cox. After the performance, Rodney steals backstage and confronts his teacher in the dressing room. No words are exchanged. They just stare at each other until Rodney departs.
Back in the Volkswagen, while in the heat of passion, Sabrina gets her behind stuck between the dashboard and the seat. Luckily, Rodney happens along and comes to the (broadly comic) rescue, thanks to a handful of butter.
When Rodney is back in his room, Joey comes to his window and apologizes for abandoning him at the bar. Rodney accepts the apology and they end the evening with a kiss.
Mr. Cox calls Rodney to say he's sorry for the scene earlier, but Rodney tells him he has nothing to apologize for, that Mr. Cox was amazing. Rodney's mother is listening in on the conversation.
The next day, outside, Sabrina regales Rodney with surprising (and not so welcome) details of her relationship with Rudy.
Rodney suffers further humiliation when he's chosen last for basketball in gym class, but leaves the class pleading illness.
Rodney meets up with Mr. Cox on the school stage, where once again they discuss their accidental meeting at the club. Rodney reassures Mr. Cox that he was amazing and not to be upset about it. Then, much to Mr. Cox's amusement, Rodney comes out to him, only to be told that it's not such a secret.
Sabrina and Rodney have dinner with her two Moms and they discuss Sabrina's problems at school and a plot for revenge.
Rodney returns home and tells his mother that he has had dinner at Sabrina's. She tells him that she wishes he wouldn't have dinner with lesbians. She has some other choice comments until Rodney mentions that Sabrina has accompanied him home and is standing right next to him, though out-of-sight in the hallway.
Sabrina and Rodney go back to Rodney's room, after being warned by Rodney's mother not to partake of any "horizontal folk dancing." The two listen to music, get drunk and laugh, until they both roll off the bed.
Rudy is having a family reunion, to which Rodney and Sabrina have been invited. When the two friends arrive they notice that all Rudy's family are African-American -- he's adopted. After initial concerns that they will once again be outsiders, Rodney and Sabrina are greeted warmly.
Rodney goes out with Joey to a roller rink. While in the bathroom after a slightly disappointing but humorous encounter, Joey tells Rodney he is a Satanist.
Back home, Rodney's mom and her Bereavement Buddies are planning to pop in the latest Kirk Cameron movie. But what they get instead is one of Rodney's porn tapes. Rodney's mom has a tough time explaining that the tape does not belong to her.
When Rodney returns, he denies any knowledge of the tape and swears that he is not gay.
The next day at church, Ted signals to Rodney to meet him, but on his way out of the pew, the minister mistakes Rodney's movement as an approach to the altar to accept Jesus. The congregation lays their hands on him. Later, when he does catch up with Ted, upstairs in the church, they begin to have sex in a closet only to have the door swing open onto a shocked Sunday school class.
Back in his room that night he gets high with Bobby, who doesn't understand why Rodney hangs out with Sabrina, though Rodney explains that he's her friend.
Before the graduation dance, Rodney and Sabrina get ready at Sabrina's house, excited about their dates and how the night will end. Rudy comes to pick up Sabrina and there are some humorously awkward moments with her moms.
They all arrive at the dance. Rodney and Joey dance. Then Rodney and Sabrina. The two couples are having a good time. But Bobby is drunk in a corner making out with Tina and Tina wants to dance. He won't. She asks Rudy, and with Sabrina's permission, they begin to move on the floor. A drunken Bobby calls Sabrina a fat bitch. When Rodney protests, Bobby calls him a fag. This stops everything. Rodney realizes the ignorance of the small town he lives in and perhaps his own naiveté in even going to the dance. We travel backwards at warp speed to the beginning of Rodney's journey.
Next, Rodney is telling us what he did next was the only thing a FAT GIRL could do. He's back in the bed, staring up at the ceiling, but now his bedmate moves and we can see him clearly. It is Mr. Cox, the nice guy teacher and drag performer. Rodney leaves the bed, moves to the bathroom and looks in the mirror. He tells us that he has discovered his inner FAT GIRL. It simply means he is finally comfortable and happy with himself.

The Comebacks
The producers of "Wedding Crashers" spoof the greatest sports movies ever.
With a track record that boasts such successful comedies as Wedding Crashers, The Wedding Planner and the recently released, Employee of the Month, it is no wonder that Fox Atomic approached the partners at Tapestry Films to produce THE COMEBACKS.
"Since we do a lot of youth oriented and big four quadrant comedies," begins producer Andrew Panay, "I think they thought we might be right for this kind of material. They sent us the script, we read it and we jointly agreed that this was something that we thought was hilarious and exciting. I think most everybody has seen a sports movie or a sports drama. How much fun would it be to poke fun at those movies and also poke fun at the sports world just in general on a large scale? It was perfect for our company."
"We thought it was terrific," agrees producer Peter Abrams. "There were some very, very funny bits... and it needed a great director that could put his stamp to it."
To this end, the filmmakers hired director Tom Brady. Coming off of two comedies geared for the young audiences, The Hot Chick and The Animal, Brady seemed a good match for this material on several levels.
"We looked for a director and found Tom Brady," recalls Abrams. "One of his strengths besides directing, is that he's a writer... So, Tom brought his keen sense of humor to the material."
"I read hundreds of scripts looking for that special one," begins director Tom Brady. "When this one came along, there were a couple things that got me. No one had really parodied or made fun of these sports movies yet. And so that hook was great.
But in particular what got me was there's a story there. They're real characters, each character had its arc. And there was the potential for a big movie with real actors and real people and real emotion and if done right to have your cake and eat it too. You can root for these people all the way and feel all the things you're supposed to feel in a sports movie, but make fun of it all along the way; and poke fun at all the clichés and conventions of all these typical melodramatic, overly dramatic sports movies that we've all seen."
Creating a film that did not just go from joke to joke or from skit to skit was important to all the filmmakers. They agreed that if they created a story with characters that the audience could get behind and root for, the jokes would play off that foundation and ring true.
"Tom has been absolutely fantastic," comments co-producer Michael Schreiber. "It's always good to have a director who knows what they want. He has a clear vision of this movie and he's able to vocalize that. So you know exactly what you're getting."
"I just had a vision for the film from the beginning," recalls Brady, "that if you play the stakes real and if the characters feel human and three dimensional, then you have a real movie. And then on top of that, you have that level of parody and the big stunts and the cameos-then you have everything you want in a movie."
Finding the right actor to play Coach Lambeau Fields was critical. Not only did the filmmakers need a comedic actor, but someone who could imbue the character with realism and heart. Into the shoes of the Coach stepped David Koechner for whom the role could not be more tailor-made. Having appeared as an extremely strong and memorable supporting player in such big screen comedy successes as Anchorman, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Reno 911, the filmmakers knew he was up to the challenge of playing the leading man.
"David and I met for breakfast," recalls Brady. "I just wanted to see that he was the guy that I thought he was. And within 10 seconds, we were both laughing and I knew in fact that he was the guy."
Brady remarks, "He was the perfect actor for the role . I think he's one of the finest comedic actors working today. He's just ready and he brings it all. He's so likable. He's compassionate. He can modulate his performance. He'd be very dramatic if he needs to be. And sometimes that's what's most funny."
"The thing about David that's so fantastic," comments Panay, "is that he's a real actor. He's such a good actor, who happens to be really funny. He's not just a comedian who's one note. This guy has so many layers -- he's got so much heart. And how do you not root for Dave Koechner? I think that's the biggest quality he has --- you cannot not love this guy!"
Koechner's comedic talents were indeed appreciated by everyone on set, although his antics often brought with them an acting challenge for those trying to do a scene with him. Many of his fellow-actors were continually brought to the verge of hysterics.
As Matthew Lawrence recalls, "He's just nailin' this character. I mean we have so much fun. He goes on these rants and when he adlibs---it's just hysterical. And it's really hard sometimes when you're opposite him, to keep a straight face."
"In the first couple scenes I had with him, it was kind of intimidating because he's so quick you don't really know where he's coming from," reflects the youngest cast member, 17-year-old Martin Spanjers who plays too-little-to-play Randy. "And he broke me a couple times. I started laughing. I had to turn my head so it wouldn't ruin the shot. But you just have to go with it and let it naturally happen. And finally, I got more comfortable. But he's just really funny. I mean this is his thing. This is his movie."
To sum it up best in the words of newcomer George Back, "He's probably the super-omega-ultra-coolest dude ever in the history of the world."
On the other side of the gridiron is Coach'es friend-turned-nemesis, Freddie Wiseman, played to perfection by Carl Weathers. Best known to filmgoers as Apollo Creed from the Rocky films, Weathers is a true icon in the world of sports and sports films, and the perfect choice to play the coach's nemesis.
"Carl Weathers is a true movie star," comments Brady, "always bringing enormous charm, intelligence, and an epic quality to all of his film roles. You can't get more charismatic than Apollo Creed, or help be in awe of his character in The Predator or of Action Jackson. I knew Carl could be hilarious. He was also a former football star at San DiegoState and played with the Raiders! All of these things made him a natural and perfect choice to play Freddie, Coach Fields' friend and mentor." "He's incredible," comments Abrams. "He is not wildly crazy like Dave can be but in a very straight ahead way. He's very, very funny especially when the two of them play off of each other."
Once next-door neighbors, Brady and Weathers had talked about working together casually in the past. But once the script for THE COMEBACKS was ready, the conversation became much more specific. "Tom came to me," recalled Weathers, "and said 'I've got this movie, and I think it'll be really good. I'd love for you to be in it and I want to send you a script.'
"Well, lo and behold a script came and I read it and it was really, really funny. And when we started working together, Tom was a joy. I've always really enjoyed working with the directors who really support you as an actor and really gave you an opportunity to bring as much to the table as you can."
With a long history both in front of the camera and as a filmmaker, Brady did indeed take to heart comments and suggestions that the experienced and well versed Weathers brought to the table.
"Carl is also a filmmaker in his own right and brought an intelligence and 'big picture' view to the project," Brady comments. "Incorporating Carl's ideas really elevated the third act to a new level!" Once Koechner and Weathers were in place, the next step was to find the prefect group of young actors to play the rag-tag team of misfits that make up The Comebacks. "When we went through the casting process," recalls co-producer Kevin Sabbe, "we really searched for young talented actors who we felt were going to be the next big thing. And more than anything, we searched for talent who was really, really funny."
From the more experienced Matthew Lawrence, Robert Ri'chard and Martin Spanjers, to relative newcomers George Back, Jermaine Williams and Jesse Garcia, the cast all brought humor, energy and a willingness to go the distance (even over the line!) to bring the team to life. Additional team members Noureen DeWulf and Jackie Long, as well as young Brooke Nevin, who plays the coach's daughter, round out the cast.
"We found a group of very talented young actors who are all funny," comments Abrams. "I think it helps to have a funny piece of material, but we also have a really skilled group of kids working."
Director Tom Brady remarks on the cast, "I was looking for gifted actors who brought something extra special to the table - a brilliant spark, a comedic twist - actors who, although their roles were inspired by somewhat 'stock' types, who would transcend those roles and make them original and lasting film characters." He continues, "Most of the roles for the team members, I discovered during casting - which I consider to be one of the most important parts of the process."
Brady continues, "Without exception, I was pleased and every member of the team took their parts to a new level. The amount of talent on this set was insane, and I anticipate that we'll all look back five years from now and say, 'how did they ever get George Back, Robert Ri'chard, Jackie Long, Brooke Nevin, Noureen DeWulf, Martin Spanjers, and Jermaine Williams ALL in one film!'" In a few cases, Brady had worked with talent involved in the film before, so he had the advantage of already knowing what they could do.
"I worked with Matthew Lawrence on "The Hot Chick" and knew he would make the perfect Lance," comments Brady. "Matt brings an enormous amount of integrity to every role he plays. His portrayals are airtight, and as a leading man he is incredibly versatile. He is natural, confident and a 'guy's guy,' and he is also strikingly handsome and can play the vulnerability of romantic situations like very few actors his age. Matthew is also a solid, well-balanced guy who has easily made the transition from child actor (Mrs. Doubtfire) to teen idol to adult leading man. This is a guy who can be a huge film star." The young talent was eager to be a part of a comedy of this level and to have the ear of the filmmakers - Brady in particular - to listen to their ideas. "He actually sat each and every one of us down for about an hour session just to give him our ideas about our characters," recalls Jermaine Williams, who plays IPod, the Coach's side-kick.
In addition to the talented central cast, the filmmakers couldn't have been happier with the dozens of other talented actors, comedians and athletes who agreed to appear in the film in cameo roles. Although most of them only worked for a single day, the results are surprising, hysterical and satirical. Much of the success in booking these people is credited by producer Abrams to having shot the film in Los Angeles and to the presence of Koechner.
As Abrams explains, "We just found a group of very talented people that allowed the film to be chock full of cameos. It was our considered opinion that if we stayed in Los Angeles we'd have a better chance to get people to come play for a day. As opposed to going somewhere else, where a day plus two days of traveling might mean they wouldn't be able to do it.
"But also, when we went out to find actors and comedians to come do cameos, when they found out that Dave was the star, they all signed up because they all love him. Within the comic actor world, he's revered - everybody loves Dave Koechner and they think he's brilliantly funny."
From the world of sports, the list is stellar and includes Super Bowl winners, a World Series ball player, top NBA talent and sportscasters. Among those appearing in the film are ex- football stars Eric Dickerson, Lawrence "LT" Taylor and Michael Irvin, retired mega-stars Dennis Rodman and Bill Buckner, as well as John Salley, Chris Rose, Frank Caliendo, and Stacy Keibler.

The producers Duncan Copp and Chris Riley spent many weeks in the NASA film library examining cans of film some of which had not been opened for over 30 years. This search uncovered many gems, astonishing space shots which have been re-mastered from the original film rolls to reveal the Apollo program with a visual clarity and impact it has never had before. The mute 16mm rolls shot in Mission Control have been laboriously lip-synced with the 16-track audio recordings of the mission controllers' voice loop to re-unite the pictures and sound of many historic moments for the first time, lending a striking immediacy to many dramatic scenes.
Editor David Fairhead and director David Sington have woven this material together with a beautiful orchestral score from composer Philip Sheppard to create a moving, nostalgic and inspiring cinematic experience.

Romance and Cigarettes is a down-and-dirty musical love story set in the world of the working class. Nick (Gandolfini) is an ironworker who builds and repairs bridges. He's married to Kitty (Sarandon), a dressmaker, a strong and gentle woman with whom he has three daughters. He is carrying on a torrid affair with a redheaded woman named Tula (Winslet). Nick is basically a good, hardworking man driven forward by will and blinded by his urges. In an imaginative, humorous, and touching way, Romance and Cigarettes explores the cost and value of a relationship through life and death. When the characters can no longer express themselves with language, they break into song, lip-synching the tunes lodged in their subconscious. The Unknown Soldier
The Wehrmacht-Exhibition, which was shown in eleven major cities in Germany between 1999 and 2004 and was visited by more than 500,000 attendants, challenged ordinary Germans to rethink what their fathers and grandfathers did during the war. Whereas most had been led to believe that the cold-blooded murder of civilians had been a crime of a minority of officers, for the first time Germans saw photos and footage of ordinary soldiers gleefully tormenting and executing civilians on the Eastern front. The nation was shaken, and large protests were organized by those who believed the evidence was manufactured.
In "The Unknown Soldier," director Michael Verhoeven ("The Nasty Girl") interviews historians and experts, including those who allege or deny the crimes, and filmed in the killing fields of Ukraine and White Russia.

This is a film which contains nothing in theme, language, nudity and sex, violence, etc. which would, in the view of the Rating Board, be offensive to parents whose younger children view the film. The G rating is not a "certificate of approval," nor does it signify a children's film.
Some snippets of language may go beyond polite conversation but they are common everyday expressions. No stronger words are present in G-rated films. The violence is at a minimum. Nudity and sex scenes are not present; nor is there any drug use content.
PG:"Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children."
This is a film that clearly needs to be examined or inquired into by parents before they let their children attend. The label PG plainly states that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, but the parent must make the decision.
Parents are warned against sending their children, unseen and without inquiry, to PG-rated movies.
The theme of a PG-rated film may itself call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity in these films. There may be some violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated film.
The PG rating, suggesting parental guidance, is thus an alert for examination of a film by parents before deciding on its viewing by their children.
Obviously such a line is difficult to draw. In our pluralistic society it is not easy to make judgments without incurring some disagreement. So long as parents know they must exercise parental responsibility, the rating serves as a meaningful guide and as a warning
PG-13:"Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13."
PG-13 is a sterner warning to parents to determine for themselves the attendance in particular of their younger children as they might consider some material not suited for them. Parents, by the rating, are alerted to be very careful about the attendance of their under-teenage children.
A PG-13 film is one which, in the view of the Rating Board, leaps beyond the boundaries of the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, or other contents, but does not quite fit within the restricted R category. Any drug use content will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. In effect, the PG-13 cautions parents with more stringency than usual to give special attention to this film before they allow their 12-year-olds and younger to attend.
If nudity is sexually oriented, the film will generally not be found in the PG-13 category. If violence is too rough or persistent, the film goes into the R (restricted) rating. A film's single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, shall initially require the Rating Board to issue that film at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive must lead the Rating Board to issue a film an R rating, as must even one of these words used in a sexual context. These films can be rated less severely, however, if by a special vote, the Rating Board feels that a lesser rating would more responsibly reflect the opinion of American parents.
PG-13 places larger responsibilities on parents for their children's moviegoing. The voluntary rating system is not a surrogate parent, nor should it be. It cannot, and should not, insert itself in family decisions that only parents can, and should, make. Its purpose is to give prescreening advance informational warnings, so that parents can form their own judgments. PG-13 is designed to make these parental decisions easier for films between PG and R.
R:"Restricted, Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent Or Adult Guardian."
In the opinion of the Rating Board, this film definitely contains some adult material. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about this film before they allow their children to accompany them.
An R-rated film may include hard language, tough violence, nudity within sensual scenes, drug abuse or other elements or a combination of some of the above, so that parents are counseled, in advance, to take this advisory rating very seriously. Parents must find out more about an R-rated movie before they allow their teenagers to view it.
This rating declares that the Rating Board believes that this is a film that most parents will consider patently too adult for their youngsters under 17. No children will be admitted. NC-17 does not necessarily mean "obscene or pornographic" in the oft-accepted or legal meaning of those words. The Board does not and cannot mark films with those words. These are legal terms and for courts to decide. The reasons for the application of an NC-17 rating can be violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse or any other elements which, when present, most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children.
